Complete Remodel & Redesign NA - Single Family Home
This was a ground up restoration of a 1906 vernacular hipped cottage. Major detective work was needed to bring this beauty back from the dead. Vintage 5 panel wood doors were sourced as were all the hardware, hinges, doorknobs, escutcheons, chandelier, light fixtures & plumbing fixtures. The front facade and porch had to be completely recreated using the best archeological detective work to deduce what it might have looked like. All the interior Douglas Fir trim work was repaired, stripped down and stained to reveal the amazing rift & quarter sewn natural forest grown grain patterns that simply doesn’t exist in today’s lumber yards. Recycled 100 year old wood was used where trim was missing such as the plate rails, picture rails and wainscoting. Many new details were added to enhance the period charm including the faux fireplace saved from a demolished home in Pasadena, French doors, sidelight windows, balconies & sconces. A crumbled chimney was discovered inside the interior walls and was removed and recommissioned as a walkway around the home perimeter.
